This article talks about usefulness of Turmeric for various skin conditions.

While choosing the best health remedies, most people would like the safest and most effective solutions, whether it is food, herbs, or traditional medicine. No doubt traditional medicines work well in cases of emergency, but they are less effective in cases of prevention or removal of the root causes of problems.  Traditional medicine also has no efficacy to treat emotional or spiritual needs of individuals. Only in Ayurveda, the concept of a healthy mind and a concept of removal of root causes of problems and the concept of prevention are discussed.

Herbal supplements are time tested from hundreds of years as Pharma products always ask for the authenticity of products via clinical trials and toxicity studies and others. But we have to keep one thing in mind that is; in ancient times all herbal products were tried directly on human beings and not on guinea pigs. Hence classical remedies are generally more authentic.

Pitta is one of the three Doshas or imbalances in a human body. If the Pitta Dosha gets aggravated, then it leads to improper digestion, and forms many toxic materials. This imbalance vitiates the blood and is responsible for most skin conditions that become an extreme Stress situation to most people.

It is a fact that most traditional medicines used, for skin conditions like Acne, give temporary relief and the frequency of recurrence is more, as compared to herbal products. It is a known fact, to get lasting relief; always herbal products are preferred over traditional products. For example Turmeric Curcumin is a good example of a herb that works wonders with skin when ingested orally or when applied as a topical application.

The science behind Turmeric and its uses for skin conditions-

Ayurvedic products give importance to constitution. Such approach has been proven more effective from ancient times and many of the Ayurvedic regimens have been widely accepted by the modern world.

Pharma products contain mainly the isolated active constituents of plants. During the process of isolating active parts, the most useful factors are lost. Hence the chemical compounds used are no longer natural and the chances of side effects could increase.

The active principles of herbs have also other constituents like gum, sugar, vitamins, inorganic salts and work like antioxidants and more. This in built antidotal mechanism protects the body from the ill effects of the environment and more. The medicinal plants possess some braking or balancing mechanism, which cannot be ignored. Ayurvedic products when taken, for skin conditions like Acne give lasting relief, as the root causes are generally addressed. Products for skin conditions include the ingredients proven for blood purification activity.  Diuretic and laxative ingredients are also used in most products. The laxative and diuretic ingredients remove the toxic materials from the body which is a root cause of many skin conditions.

In short one can conclude that herbal supplements and herbs like Turmeric for skin conditions detoxify the channels and remove impurities from the vitiated blood. This is a way Ayurvedic remedies treat the root cause of skin conditions. This is the reason why these products are more efficacious than many traditional products.
