In this article I am going to discuss about Natural remedies for weight loss and certain herbal supplements that can help.

Obesity is a condition characterized by excessive body fat. Obesity is the hunting ground for diseases. Obese people often have low metabolism and it is difficult for them to have any kind of weight loss and could be subjected to increased blood sugar conditions.

Factors for Obesity include lack of exercise, inherited factors,  hormonal disorders, stress, excessive intake of high calory foods. Obesity is an increasing problem in developing and developed countries including the United States. Obesity is usually determined by body mass index or BMI

BMI : 25-29-9 (Over weight)
BMI : 30 and above (Obese)
BMI : 40 and above (Extremely obese)

Let us discuss about the natural remedies for weight loss, as these are good and they are cost effective and do not require consumption of any harmful chemicals like in many pharmaceutical drugs.

Natural remedies for Weight loss that are helpful  -

Reduce the amount of calories and increase exercise level.

Avoid eating red meat or eat sparingly.

Always drink lukewarm water. As per Ayurveda it will help reduce body fat.

Avoid smoking and excessive intake of alcohol.

Use only a limited amount of dairy products, as they are rich in calories.

Drink Ginger tea 2 to 3 times a day.  Also, chew a thin slice of fresh ginger every day. It can also help with blood sugar.

Eat Green mint everyday, it is also helpful for weight loss.

Include lots of fresh fruits and green vegetables in diet. Use the fruits and vegetables that are low caloried like Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Cucumber, Bananas and Spinach. Also consumption of Apples, Strawberries, Watermelon, Cherries, Sweet Potato, Fig and Pineapple is good as these are effective weight loss natural remdies.

Regular intake of Aloe Vera and Guduchi Or Indian Tinospora based products is beneficial to help reduce obesity.

Tomatos and Carrots are low in calories but high in vitamins, so add this to your meal.

Avoid or eat minute portions of rice, potatoes, Chick peas or Chana dal.

Daily have a brisk walk for 30 minutes, followed by intake of  a glass of low calorie Carrot juice.

Minimize intake of salt; Chocalates fortified with lot of sugars.

Adding fiber based products and fiber supplement like Gaur gum should help.

Avoid snacking and eating late into the night helps with blood sugar regulation.

Some Researchers stated that the combination of  L-Organine, L-Ornithine and L-Lysine supplements can help burn fat in Obese people.

In my practice I have observed that obese persons generally have low immunity. So use of herbs, fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants should be helpful for weight loss and would greately benefit from natural remedies.

In a study conducted at the university of Rome, 5 HTP Amino acid (5-hydroxytryptophan) supplements, reduced calorie absorption by body  and promoted weight loss in women, who otherwise made no conscious effort to lose weight. They had an average of 3 pounds weight loss during the five week period of using 5 HTP supplements.

Use of Flaxseed oil and Primrose oil  is useful for blood sugar support and weight loss.

Use of seafood in diet, is advisable as it is a rich source of magnesium.

Researchers have stated that Coenzyme Q10 may help to promote weight loss.

The extract of Garcinia Cambogia or Brindle Berry, herbal supplements is very effective to lose weight. The dose should be decided based on body constitution.

Intake of decoction of Triphala is also useful to lose weight. Triphala can be also taken as a herbal supplement.

Spirulina is an effective remedy for obese persons. One can avoid flatulance, by taking black pepper along with Spirulina. Blood sugar, arthritis, Rheumatism also can be helped with Spirulina and black pepper.

Intake of  Lemon juice with honey is one simple natural remedy.

Commiphora Mukul  or Gum Guggul’s  Karshan or weight loss properties are mentioned in Ayurveda. This can be taken as a supplement.

Finally, limit or eliminate eating of white bread, sweets, refined cereals, fast food, foods with high calories, oily and spicy food.
