Dopamine is an essential component of our body. It is a decarboxylated form of dopa and works as a neurotransmitter in the brain and works as an intermediate, in the biosynthesis of epinephrine.
L-dopa contains natural secretagogues or substances that stimulates secreation, which may supports the body’s ability to stimulate the natural release of growth hormones. The increased dopamine levels also optimize the production of other hormones, including testosterone. Testosterone is a male hormone produced by testes and is responsible for inducing and maintaining male secondary sex drive. Mucuna pruriens is useful for both men and women to increase libido and is beneficial for stimulating muscle growth. Aphrodisiac study done at college of Pharmaceuticals Sciences Manipal –Results have shown that Mucuna-pruriens increased the sexual activity of male albino rats considerably by stimulating testosterone level. The research also shows that sexually active animals had increased sexual desire and improved sexual performance after 21 to 28 days.
Elephant Vine or Argyreia Nervosa or Vidhara, according to classical Ayurvedic texts, helps delay vardhakya or old age and keeps one young by strengthening the body. It is an appetizer and improves digestion and also increases sexual vigor, libido. It acts as an alterative and tonic. It is also useful in nervous disorders. Ref. Ashwagandha is a Herb described in the Ayurvedic Pharmacopia as an adaptogenic herb and also helps in stress relief. It maintains proper nourishment of the tissues, while supporting proper functioning of the adrenals. This potent herb is also used to promote muscle strength. It is also useful to maintain a healthy libido, for it is said to bestow upon its user the vitality and strength of a horse.
