It can increases thermogenesis, leading to increased fat burning, hence helps in weight loss. Thermogenesis occurs when the central nervous system triggers the burning of fat, to maintain the body’s temperature. The herb Turmeric can bind to the capsaicin receptor and increase the rate at which thermogenesis occurs. The studies done by Dr.Ascei and Dr.Miyazawa concluded that Turmeric extracts lower fat in the blood stream and reduce weight gain. Research also shows that Turmeric’s hypocholesterolemic effect on the digestive tract should be useful for weight management.
Researchers proved that Curcumin, the active constituent of Curcuma longa, reduces the amyloidal protein plaques associated with Alzheimer's. Extensive research is being conducted with the help of National Institute of Health (NIH.Gov) to document benefits of Turmeric for Alzheimer’s.
